Senior quarterback Mike Piazza led the Mammoths to two wins to close the season, capping his Amherst career in style with 569 passing yards and 4 touchdowns over his final two games.
Piazza set a career high with 374 passing yards in Amherst's 27-23 win at Bowdoin on Nov. 4, the most by an Amherst quarterback in over a decade. He completed 25-of-35 passes and threw two touchdown passes in the third quarter, including a 51-yard pass to Carter Jung for the game-winning score, earning NESCAC Offensive Player of the Week honors.
The senior followed that performance with 195 passing yards in a 21-14 win over archrival Williams on Nov. 11, completing 13-of-18 passes with two touchdowns, again finding Jung for the game-winning score. Piazza was also Amherst's leading rusher in the game, netting 73 yards on the ground.
A mathematics major from Wellesley, Massachusetts, Piazza is a three-time NESCAC All-Academic honoree.
