Junior Eliza Cardwell finished eighth in the nation in the 100m hurdles, earning All-America First Team honors for the third time this year.
Cardwell broke her own Amherst school record in the 100m hurdles, clocking a time of 14.07 seconds in both the preliminaries and final to finish eighth at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. It was the third top-eight finish of the year for Cardwell, who placed sixth in both the 60m hurdles and the long jump at the NCAA Indoor Championships in March.
Earlier in the month, Cardwell earned All-New England honors by finishing second in the 100m hurdles and third in the long jump at the New England Division III Outdoor Championships. She went on to win the 100m hurdles at both the Farley Inter-Regional Extravaganza at Williams and at the MIT Final Qualifier before competing at the national championships.
A double major in economics and political science from Melbourne, Australia, Cardwell is a two-time NESCAC champion and has qualified for the NCAA Championships in all six seasons she has competed at Amherst.
