Junior Andreas Sillaste made a run to the semifinals of the singles tournament at the NCAA Championships, earning All-America honors for the third straight season.
Sillaste posted an overall record of 7-1 during postseason play in the month of May. The month began with the NESCAC Tournament, in which Sillaste won at both singles and doubles alongside Lukas Frangenberg in Amherst’s win over Williams in the quarterfinals and against Tufts in the semifinals.
Earning a berth to the singles draw at the NCAA Championships, the unseeded Sillaste opened his run with an upset over third-seeded Ruilin Feng of Emory, mounting a remarkable comeback after being blanked in the first set to win 0-6, 6-1, 6-4. Two more wins followed, including another upset of eighth-seeded Alex Feis of Carnegie Mellon, leaving Sillaste as one of the final four men standing in the hunt for the national title. It was his deepest run yet after reaching the quarterfinals in each of his first two collegiate seasons.
With his win over Feng, Sillaste claimed All-America honors for the third straight season since bursting onto the scene as the ITA Rookie of the Year in 2024. Hailing from Oulu, Finland, Sillaste was also tabbed for First Team All-NESCAC honors in both singles and doubles this year. A double major in economics and psychology, Sillaste earned CSC Academic All-Region and NESCAC All-Academic honors.
