Senior captain Damien Ruparel posted a 7-1 record in singles and a 6-2 mark in doubles to lead the Amherst College men's tennis team to a 5-3 record in the month of March.
Playing at the top flight in both singles and doubles, Ruparel won his first seven singles matches of the spring season, including three wins in two days over opponents ranked in the top 50 in Division III at the Stag-Hen Invitational on March 18–19. In doubles, Ruparel teamed with first-year Sujit Chepuri to open the fall season with four straight wins, including an 8-4 win over 13th-ranked Abhi Ramireddy and Daniel Li of WashU at the Stag-Hen Invitational on March 18, before kicking off the NESCAC campaign with wins against Connecticut College and Wesleyan.
A native of Westfield, New Jersey, Ruparel was tabbed as the sixth-ranked singles player in the Northeast Region in the ITA Division III Regional Rankings released on March 28, while he and Chepuri are ranked fourth in the region in doubles. After the fall season, Ruparel was ranked 48th in the nation in singles and 19th nationally in doubles.
