First-year Michael Abbey Jr. won the NESCAC title in the triple jump in his conference championship debut, helping the Mammoths to a runner-up finish at the NESCAC Championships.
Abbey won the triple jump at the NESCAC Championships with a season-best hop, skip and jump of 14.28m, a mark that ranks among the top 25 in Division III this season. Abbey was the only first-year to win an individual event at the NESCAC men's championships this year. The Yonkers, New York, native also placed eighth in the long jump and was named Most Outstanding Rookie.
Earlier in the month, Abbey won the triple jump at Smith's Coffey Invitational and placed second in the event at the Amherst Spring Fling after an indoor season in which he won the New England Division III Championship in the triple jump.
