Junior Eliza Cardwell had a record-setting month of February, winning two events at the New England Division III Championships.
Cardwell broke her own Amherst record to win her second career NED3 title in the 60m hurdles, running a time of 8.64 seconds in the preliminaries. She also won her first NED3 title in the long jump, claiming the championship with a personal-best leap of 5.68m. Her marks in both events ranked among the top 10 in the nation in Division III this season. Cardwell also earned All-New England honors in the 4x400m relay as part of Amherst's team that placed fifth.
Earlier in the month, Cardwell was the top Division III finisher in the 60m hurdles at Boston University's Hemery Valentine Invitational and was part of Amherst's winning 4x400m relay team at the Tufts Cupid Challenge.
A double major in economics and political science from Melbourne, Australia, Cardwell is a two-time NESCAC champion and is slated to compete in her fifth career NCAA Championships this season.
