MEDFORD, Mass. - Annika Nygren '16 recorded the game-winner with under seven minutes to play to lift the 11th-ranked Amherst College field hockey team past fourth-ranked Tufts University on the road Saturday, 2-1.

The Jeffs handed Tufts (6-1, 3-1 NESCAC) its first loss of the season as they increased their win streak to four straight. Amherst is now 6-2 overall and 3-2 in conference play.

Madeline Tank '15 and Nygren scored for the Purple & White while Annie Turnbull '16 assisted on both scores. Emily Horwitz '17 was terrific in net once again and allowed just one goal while stopping nine shots.

The Jumbos jumped on the board first in the opening minutes when Zarella found the back of the net for an unassisted marker just 3:17 into the game.

After 25:40 of scoreless action, Amherst evened the score when Tank sent one past Keenan off an assist from Turnbull. The teams entered the break tied at 1-1.

Tufts continued to pressure the Jeffs defense in the second half and posted five shots on goal, but came away scoreless. At the 63:49 mark, Nygren redirected Turnbull's shot for the game-winner as the Jeffs prevailed, 2-1.

The Jumbos held a 15-to-8 advantage in shots and 5-to-3 edge in penalty corners, but Horwitz racked up nine saves compared to Tufts' one.
