AMHERST, Mass. – The Amherst College field hockey team fell to Bowdoin College, 3-0, Saturday on Hill Field.
The Mammoths now hold a 2-1 record. Next up, the Mammoths will embark on their first away game of the season, facing Worcester Polytechnic Institute Tuesday at 7 p.m.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
* Both offensively and defensively, the game got off to a slow start with a series of fouls called on both Amherst and Bowdoin. However, in the last 12 twelve seconds of quarter one, Mammothh first-year
Ella Kang fired a promising shot that was just wide of the goal.
* The Mammoths kicked off quarter two in a scoreless tie with the Polar Bears.
Devon Watson drew a penalty corner with four and a half minutes on the clock, subsequently passing to
Emma Zhang, who fired a shot that was blocked by Bowdoin's goalie.
Bella Kim and Kang followed up with shots five and six minutes into the quarter that were both slightly wide.

Grace Puchalski had an impressive save in quarter two, blocking a rocket from Bodwoin's Hannah Balmelli with twelve minutes on the clock.
* Despite the Mammoth's efforts, Bowdoin got the first game point on the board five minutes into quarter three. The Mammoths had some bad luck, with two shots fired just minutes before at the conclusion of quarter two, and a shot in quarter three that did not find a gap in Bowdoin's defense.
* With two more goals from Bowdoin in quarter four, and three unsuccessful shots from the Mammoths, the Amherst women walked away with their first loss of the season.
