WATERVILLE, ME - The Amherst College men's lacrosse team jumped out to a 9-3 halftime lead and held on to edge 20th-ranked league-foe Colby College, 11-9, Saturday afternoon at Seaverns Field. Senior attackman Chris Condlin (Baltimore, MD) and classmate midfielder Matt Margolis (Short Hills, NJ) each netted a trio of goals to lead the Jeffs.
Sophomore netminder Cushing Donelan (Noroton, CT) finished with 13 saves, while Colby goalie Matthew LaPaglia (Upper Montclair, NJ) also turned aside 13 shots. With the victory, the Jeffs improve to 4-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play, while the White Mules fall to 1-3 and 0-3.
Amherst, ranked third in the latest New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) poll, returns to action Tuesday at 4 p.m. at non-league opponent Western New England College.
