Men's Lacrosse Outlasts Hamilton, 11-10

March 22, 2002

PORT RICHEY, FL – The Amherst College men's lacrosse team took an 11-6 lead and held on for a narrow 11-10 non-league win over Hamilton College Friday night in Port Richey, Florida. The Jeffs, who improved to 2-1 with their second straight victory, placed eight different players in the scoring column, led by three-goal performances from senior quad-captain midfielder Gene Nogi (Clarks Summit, PA) and sophomore attackman Mike Allison (W. Nyack, NY).

Rookie Amherst goaltender Cushing Donelan (Noroton, CT) turned away 22 shots in the win, withstanding a late Hamilton surge that saw the Continentals end the game with a frenzied 4-0 flurry. Junior attackman Chris Condlin (Baltimore, MD) joined Nogi and Allison offensively with a pair of goals and an assist, while sophomore Craig McBeth (Wyckoff, NJ) chipped in with a goal and two assists, and first-year Colby Griffith (Lexington, MA) and junior Matt Margolis (Short Hills, NJ) each added a goal and an assist. Senior Harlow Voorhees (Chevy Chase, MD) and first-year Alex Casertano (Millbrook, NY) each tallied an assist for the Jeffs.

The Jeffs return to Amherst on Thursday for a 4 p.m. home game against non-league foe Wheaton College.
