Sophomore Hannah Stephenson has set the pace for the Mammoths this fall, winning both races that Amherst competed in during the month of September.
Stephenson opened the season by winning the Little Three Championships, completing the 4k course on Amherst’s campus in 14:49.0 to win by nine seconds and top the field of 51 runners. She followed that up by winning the Cardinal Invitational two weeks later at Wesleyan, finishing in 20:45.0, her collegiate best 6k time, to pace a field of 135 runners.
The Farmington, Connecticut, native was named the Division III Women National Athlete of the Week by the USTFCCCA after her Little Three performance. Stephenson earned All-Region honors in cross country and in the 5000m during outdoor track and field season as a rookie last year, as well as All-New England honors in the 3000m during indoor track and field season.
