Senior distance swimmer Gabriele Lunardi won every race he entered in January and set a new pool record along the way.

Lunardi won all three individual events he started and both relays he participated in over the first month of 2025. He won the 1000-yard freestyle to help the Mammoths to a dual-meet win over Union on Jan. 4, then set a new Pratt Pool record in the event with a time of 9:28.86 against archrival Williams on Jan. 11, breaking the oldest pool record on the board that had stood since 2010. Lunardi also won the 500-yard freestyle against Williams and was named NESCAC Performer of the Week for the second time this season after his distance sweep.

The New York native was also part of two winning relay teams in a non-scored dual meet against Babson, swimming the leadoff leg for victorious Amherst groups in the 300-yard individual medley relay and 500-yard freestyle relay.

A double major in political science and law, jurisprudence & social thought, Lunardi was an All-NESCAC swimmer in 2023 and qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships that year. He is a two-time NESCAC All-Academic honoree and has already posted an NCAA B-cut time in the 500-yard freestyle with a time that ranks among the top 10 in the nation this season through the end of January.
