Mammoths Remain in 2nd Following Day 2 of NESCAC Championship

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA -- The Amherst College women's golf team competed in Day 2 of the 2026 NESCAC Championship tournament. The Mammoths began play Saturday morning at Taconic Golf Course, hosted by Williams College.

After Day 2, the Mammoths were able to hold their spot in 2nd place. The Mammoths fired +8 over par for the day, with their two-day total at +32 over par. Continuing to lead the tournament is Middlebury College. For Day 2 Middlebury shot +7 over, and are now at +28 over par. Tailing behind the Mammoths in 3rd place is now Wesleyan College at a total of +36 over par. Williams College fell to fourth place at +37 over par. 


On the individual leaderboard, Mekhala Costello fired a -3 under par for a career record 68 (the course is a par 71). Costello had an impressive round with four birdies and one bogey, and now sits in first place on the individual leaderboard going into the final day. Following Costello is freshman Emma Lindemoen firing at 73, finishing strong with a birdie on 18. Freshman Renna Chang follows close behind firing a 74. Sophomore Jia An shot 77, and sophomore Joelle Kim shot 78, ending with an eagle on hole 18.

The Mammoths, #5 in the nation, are back in action tomorrow for the third and final day of the NESCAC Championship. With a tight leaderboard, the Mammoths are hoping to climb to the top of the leaderboard tomorrow.
