AMHERST, Mass. - Amherst College senior defensive back Miles Harmon was named the Desmond "Tuss" McLaughry Award winner which goes to the top Western Mass. collegiate student-athlete and presented by the National Football Foundation's Western Mass. chapter.
Harmon will receive the award on Sunday, April 12 at the National Football Foundation's annual awards banquet at the Twin Hills Country Club in Longmeadow, Mass.

Harmon, a senior biochemistry & biophysics major (pre-med) with a 3.97 GPA from Chevy Chase, Md., started 24 of 36 games for the Mammoths over the past four seasons. In 2025, Amherst went 5-4 with Harmon playing in seven games and posting career-high numbers with 23 tackles (17 solo, 6 assisted). He had the first two interceptions of his career and tied a career-high with six passes defensed.
He has been named to the NFF's Honor Society three times and the NESCAC Fall All-Academic team three times.
In the summer of 2025, he was awarded the Gregory Call Fellowship Grant for research in Gasdermin proteins at Amherst. He was selected by professor Cole Dovey to lead a team of undergraduate students conducting a Gasdermin research project. He also acted a STEM public speaking peer coach, where he facilitated group sessions with 20 students, coaching them of effectively presenting research in an engaging and accessible manner.
From 2023-24 Harmon served as a Certified Nurses Aid (CNA) in both Bethesda and Potomac, Maryland.
