Boyle Shatters School Record as Mammoths Secure Championship Bids in Medford

MEDFORD, Mass. — Junior Parker Boyle authored a historic performance to lead the Amherst College men's track and field team at the Tufts 7-Way meet on Saturday. The Mammoths secured several new postseason standards while Boyle rewrote the program record books in a dominant display of distance running.

Boyle Rewrites History 

The highlight of the meet came in the 3000m run, where Parker Boyle stormed to a first-place finish with a blistering time of 8:15.28. This performance set a new Amherst indoor school record, shattering the previous mark. Boyle's time is currently ranked 10th nationally in NCAA Division III and comfortably earned him an Auto-Qualifying mark for the New England Division III (NED3) Indoor Championships.

Middle Distance Success & Championship Standards

 Amherst's middle-distance crew utilized the meet to lock in several key qualifying marks for the upcoming New England Championships:

  • 600m Run: Ben Davis delivered a strong second-place performance, clocking in at 1:21.57 to secure an Auto-Qualifying time.

  • 800m Run: Will Reeves captured first place in his section with a time of 1:57.27, hitting the Provisional Qualifying standard.

  • 1000m Run: The Mammoths showed impressive depth with Tim Churchill (3rd, 2:32.40) and Will Nagy (4th, 2:32.87) both securing Provisional Qualifying marks.

  • The Mile: Jacob Connolly placed fourth overall with a time of 4:24.25, also hitting the Provisional Qualifying standard.

UP NEXT: The Mammoths will split the squad for a massive double-header on February 13-14. Half the team will travel to the high-banked track at Boston University for the Valentine Invitational, while the rest of the squad will return to Medford for the Tufts Cupid Challenge & Multi.
