SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — The Amherst College men's track and field team concluded its regular season with a stellar showing at the Springfield Triangle Classic, securing multiple automatic qualifying marks and personal bests. The meet served as the final tune-up and qualification window before the Mammoths head to the regional championships.
Amherst athletes made significant waves in the hurdles and jumps, headlined by record-breaking performances and individual victories.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
- Sophomore Bohan Zheng dominated the long jump, winning the event with an automatic qualifying personal-best leap of 6.76m.
- Keason Ky delivered a record-breaking performance in the 60m hurdles, finishing second with a school-record and personal-best time of 8.31.
- In the 60m hurdles, Christoph Osselmann-Chai placed third with a personal-best time of 8.40, earning a "Big Q" automatic qualification.
- First-year Marshall Dunahoe finished third in the heptathlon with 4271 points, setting personal bests in the pole vault (3.35m), shot put (11.26m), and 60m hurdles (9.14) during the multi-event competition.
- Isaiah Robinson earned a personal best in the 60m hurdles, clocking in at 8.80 during the preliminary rounds.
- Cody Pierce sprinted to victory in the 400m dash, winning the event with a time of 49.10.
- Sophomore Chris Onsomu notched a personal best in the mile, finishing in 4:30.50 to place seventh overall.
- Harrison Talcott added a runner-up finish in the 3000m run with a time of 8:55.43.
