BIRMINGHAM, AL. -- The Amherst College men's and women's indoor track and field teams opened the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field National Championships on Friday, March 13, with a series of incredible performances showcased by a national runner-up finish and a new program record.

Men's Distance Medley Relay

The highlight of the evening occurred in the Men's Distance Medley Relay (DMR), where the Amherst quartet of Will Nagy, Cody Pierce, Ben Davis, and Parker Boyle secured a second-place finish in the nation.
In addition to the silver medal, the team established a new school record. The relay was a hard fought battle between the four legs:
  • Will Nagy (1200m): 3:02
  • Cody Pierce (400m): 48.0
  • Ben Davis (800m): 1:51
  • Parker Boyle (1600m): 4:03
  • Men's 5000m
Junior Stan Craig crossed the finish line in 14:28.01 to secure 15th place in the country. His effort was a successful opening to the distance events for the Amherst men and concluded with an incredible finish to his indoor season.
    Women's 800m Preliminaries
Amherst saw significant success in the mid-distance events. Zoe Marcus qualified for Saturday's national final by placing sixth overall in the preliminaries, clocking a time of 2:11.
Piper Lentz concluded her individual indoor season as a Second Team All-American. Lentz finished 12th in the country, concluding her indoor season as one of the premier 800m runners in Division III.

    Women's Distance Medley Relay

The Women's DMR team, comprised of Piper Lentz, Myeh Medina, Zoe Marcus, and Flora Biro, earned a podium spot with a seventh-place finish. The group posted a collective time of 11:44 to secure their All-American honors.

    Women's Long Jump

In the field events, Alayah Campbell demonstrated elite form, recording a mark that would have placed her sixth in the national standings. However, due to a technical disqualification from the competition, the mark did not stand in the final results. Despite the outcome, Campbell's performance put her as a top-tier national competitor.

    Saturday Schedule of Events
