Craig Breaks School Record as Mammoths shine at BU Valentine and Tufts Cupid Meets

BOSTON AND MEDFORD, Mass. --The Amherst men's track and field team delivered a strong weekend of performances split between the BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational and the Tufts Cupid Challenge, producing personal records, national-level marks, and championship-qualifying performances.
 

BU Valentine Invitational

Amherst saw standout performances across the track and in the multis.
* In the 800m, Ben Davis ran 1:52.70, an Auto-Qualifying mark that ranks among the top-25 nationally. Will Nagy followed with a PR of 1:54.37, while Tim Churchill recorded a PR of 1:56.29.
* In the 1,000m, Parker Boyle posted a 2:26.34 PR and Auto-Qualifying performance.

Distance runners continued the momentum.
* In the 3,000m, Henry Dennen ran a PR of 8:18.58. The 5,000m featured a historic race from Stan Craig, who set a school record in 14:16.39, while Harrison Dow ran 14:33.26 (PR) and Carter Bengtson ran 14:36.09 (PR).
* On the sprint side, Jordan Harrison moved to third all-time indoors in the 200m, running 22.03, while Cody Pierce recorded a 400m PR of 48.21, ranking fourth all-time at Amherst.
* The multis group also delivered strong results, highlighted by Isaiah's heptathlon PR (+172 points) and Keason's 126-point PR, moving him to third all-time.
 

Tufts Cupid Challenge

Amherst continued its strong indoor season at Tufts with several event-group highlights.
* In the 60m, Jordan Harrison ran 6.93 hitting the Auto Qualification mark , while Ian Irwin ran 7.05 and Alexander Nichols ran 7.06 both hitting provisional standards for the New England Indoor Championships.
* Distance performances were led by Stan Craig, who won the 3,000m in 8:30.55, hitting the Auto-Qualifying standard. Chris Onsomu recorded a PR of 9:05.08 in the event.
* In the 5,000m, Caleb Barnes ran 15:12.73, achieving the provisional qualifying standard in his first collegiate 5k.
* In the field events, Amir Ali recorded a shot put PR of 14.01m (45-11.75). In the pole vault, Isaiah Robinson and Keason Ky both recorded personal-best clearances during the meet.
* The heptathlon group continued to improve, with Amherst athletes posting multiple event PRs across the competition.
