WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS – The Amherst Women's Swim and Dive team fell short against NESCAC rival Williams on Saturday afternoon, 213-85.
The Mammoths move to 3-2 on the season, 2-2 in the NESCAC. The Mammoths will swim again on Friday, January 23rd, against Springfield College. The meet will take place at home for the Mammoths, at Pratt Pool, and is scheduled to begin at 5:30 pm.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS

First-year Penny Lazar picked up two second-place finishes in today's meet. Lazar swam a 10:53.84 in the 1000-yard freestyle and a 5:18.40 in the 500-yard freestyle, earning 8 points for the Mammoths.

Ava Insteness earned a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle, swimming a 1:55.82.

Sydney Thompson also picked up 4 points for the Mammoths, finishing second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.42.

The Amherst divers picked up 15 total points from the 3-meter diving. Donna Zhang finished first, Brooke Ronan picked up second place, and Zoluntu Radebe placed fourth. In the 1-meter diving, Ronan and Zhang placed second and third, respectively.

The Mammoths had their strongest showing in the 100-yard freestyle with Thompson earning a second-place finish, Paige Arnold claiming third, and Insteness finishing fourth.

Arnold also had two third-place swims to pick up 6 points for the Mammoths. She finished third in the 100-yard backstroke and the 100-yard butterfly.

The Mammoths placed second in the 400-yard freestyle relay, swam by Thompson, Lazar, Insteness, and Arnold.
