Lily Dounchis,
Katie Hart, and
Deliala Charles Friedman of the #13 Amherst College women's tennis team were awarded All-NESCAC selections when they were announced earlier today. Cui accorded First Team Singles honors while Dounchis earned a Second Team Singles selection. Both Cui and Dounchis were also selected to the All-NESCAC Second Team Doubles with their partners Hart and Friedman, respectively.
Cui earns her third Singles and second doubles honors, closing her Amherst career with five total All-NESCAC selections in four years. Serving as the Mammoths' number one singles player for much of her career, the senior has recorded a 37-16 total record this season, racking up a .70 win percentage in 2024-25.
Hart has carved out a great career for herself as one of the Mammoths' best doubles players and has settled into a great partnership with Cui –- the two have played doubles together for the last three seasons for the Mammoths. Together, the Amherst captains have compiled a 20-8 record over the course of the 2024-25 campaign, earning their second All-NESCAC selection as a pair in the process.
Dounchis yields her second and third All-NESCAC selections this year after a year in which she earned 33 total wins in singles and doubles. Consistently playing at the number two singles spot for the Mammoths this year, Dounchis has consistently battled while facing some of the conference's best players.
Friedman earns her fifth All-NESCAC selection as a senior – she was a First Team Singles and Doubles selection last year and a Second Team Singles and Doubles selection in 2022. The dynamic doubles duo of Deliala and Dounchis picked up right where they left off, following up a 2024 NCAA Final Four appearance by putting up a 19-8 record (.70 win percentage) on the way to their another Second Team All-NESCAC Doubles honor as a pair.
After posting a 12-7 record through the NESCAC Tournament, the Mammoths earned an at-large berth in the NCAA Division III Championship tournament, which begins this weekend. They begin their campaign for a second National Championship at home, hosting the first three rounds of the tournament at the Amherst Tennis Courts. The earned a first-round bye, and will open the tournament on Saturday, May 10, playing the winner of Friday's first-round matchup between Vassar College and Hunter College.
