George Chaidemenos (Athens, Greece) of Amherst men's tennis were honored with Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) awards for their play this season, it was announced by the organization yesterday.
She was named the Northeast Region ITA Player to Watch after a breakthrough year. The recognition is the latest in a long list that also includes 2025-26 NESCAC Player of the Year, All-NESCAC First Team Singles, All-NESCAC Second Team Doubles, and CSC Academic All-District awards. As of today, She is the No. 3 ranked singles player nationally, with a record of 24-4 (86 percent) during the 2025-26 season while consistently playing at the top spot. Her play also earned her a spot in the 2026 NCAA Singles Tournament, which will start on Friday, May 22.
Chaidemenos earned his Northeast Region ITA Most Improved Player award after a big jump in his final collegiate season. Over the course of the year, he has racked up an impressive 15-6 singles record, including an 8-0 stretch in March and April that helped bring the team to the NESCAC Tournament. While his 2024-25 record of 13-4 was also nothing to scoff at, he did his work at the sixth spot, while all his wins this year came competing at number two, playing some of the best players in New England.
She was selected to the NCAA Singles Tournament and will compete against an opponent to be determined on Friday, May 22 at the Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, Tenn. Chaidemenos is the third alternate in the men's draw.
