Tina She saw her NCAA individual run end in the round of 32 on Friday at McCallie School, falling to Chicago's Clara Zou, 6–3, 4–6, 6–4, after a nearly three-hour battle. The #3 player in the nation battled through a slow-paced, grinding match that asked her to create points, come forward, and use her slice to try to finish at the net, capping a standout season at 24–5.
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
The match was originally scheduled for Champions Club in Chattanooga but was moved indoors to McCallie School because of rain. She got off to a difficult start, trailing 1–4 in the first set before climbing back to 3–4 and threatening to level it, but Zou held on to take the opener.
She responded well in the second set, starting stronger and staying ahead throughout to force a deciding third. In the final set, she fell behind 3–0 and 4–1 before mounting another comeback to 4–4, but Zou won the last two games to close out the match 6–4.
SEASON SUMMARY
The round-of-32 match was the longest of the day and nearly lasted three hours. It also capped an excellent season for She, who finished ranked No. 3 nationally and earned NESCAC Player of the Year honors along with Northeast Player to Watch recognition. Her 24–5 record reflects a historic season for the sophomore, which she will be eager to improve upon in the 2026-2027 season.
