Jordan Harrison tied the school record in the 100m dash and junior
Adrian Friedman won the long jump to highlight action for the Amherst College men's track and field team as the Mammoths opened the outdoor season in earnest at the Black & Gold Invitational on Sunday at Bryant University.
As a team, the Mammoths finished sixth out of 18 teams at the meet, scoring 65.5 points amongst a field primarily comprised of Division I squads as host Bryant won the meet with 97 points. Amherst had the top finish of the five Division III teams at the meet.
Next weekend the Mammoths host their only home meet of the season as the Amherst Spring Fling is set for Saturday (April 8) with events beginning at 11 a.m.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
* Running the 100m dash for the first time in his collegiate career, Harrison went ahead and tied the school record, clocking a time of 10.79 seconds to match the mark set last season by
Henry Buren '22. Harrison finished second overall, behind only fellow first-year Cole Martin of Division I Maine. First-year
Cody Pierce was the next Division III finisher, tying for sixth overall with a time of 11.02 seconds. First-year
Alexander Nichols was 11th overall in 11.14 seconds and junior
Benjamin Bell placed 14th in 11.25 seconds.
* Friedman won the long jump with a leap of 6.39m, his first collegiate win in an outdoor meet. He also placed seventh in the triple jump with an outdoor career-best mark of 12.08m.

Gabe dos Santos finished third in the triple jump with a mark of 12.56m and also placed fifth in the high jump, clearing 1.85m. Sophomore
Camden Heafitz also cleared 1.85m to finish ninth in the high jump, with those marks ranking among the top 10 in New England so far this season.

Kolya Markov-Riss was the top Division III finisher in the 800m, leading a deep contingent of Mammoths. Markov-Riss finished third with a time of 1:54.36, a personal outdoor best which ranks among the top 30 nationally in Division III so far this season. Senior
Wilson Spurrell was just behind in 1:55.12 to claim fourth, junior
Braedon Fiume was sixth in a personal-best 1:56.23 and sophomore
Nick Edwards-Levin placed seventh in a personal-best 1:56.76. In their outdoor collegiate debuts, first-year
Will Nagy took 10th in 1:56.98 and classmate
Ben Davis was 13th in 1:57.18.

Jack Trent and Spurrell finished third with a time of 3:23.69, the best mark among Division III squads and a time that ranks among the top five in New England this season.

Tom Ye was the top Division III finisher in the 400m hurdles, claiming fourth overall with a a time of 58.24 seconds that ranks among the top 20 in New England this season. Senior
Max Spelke nabbed 10th place in 1:01.31.

Luke Munch claimed fifth place in the 5000m with a personal-best time of 15:16.29.
* Making his collegiate 110m hurdles debut, first-year
Noah Kanahele Harris clocked in at 15.60 seconds to place eighth with a time that ranked among the top 20 in New England.
* In their first collegiate 1500m race, first-years
Henry Dennen and
George Cahill were the top two Division III finishers. Dennen placed ninth overall in 3:58.69 and Cahill was 19th with a time of 4:01.48. Senior
Keon Mazdisnian finished 26th in 4:07.08, junior
Oliver Spiva was 31st in 4:10.07, senior
Aydin Williams was just behind with a 32nd-place time of 4:10.23 and junior
Theo Dassin placed 37th in 4:11.89.

David Brown posted a mark of 42.64m in the discus throw to finish 11th with a mark that ranks among the top 10 in New England this season.

Jai Dreher was the top Division III finisher in the 400m, clocking a time of 52.03 seconds to finish 12th overall in his first individual collegiate race.
