LA CROSSE, WI. -- Amherst College junior Michael Abbey Jr. became the first person in Amherst College track & field history to take a leap of more than 15 meters Saturday on the final day of the 2026 NCAA Div. III Championships at Veterans Memorial Stadium on the campus of the University of Wisconsin -- La Crosse.

Abbey Jr. capped off his junior season with a triple jump of 15.08 meters on his first jump of the day and placed 6th to earn First Team All-American honors! His jump also breaks his own school record as he becomes the first Mammoth to ever break the 15-meter barrier.

The 4x1 team of Seniors Cody PierceAlexander Nichols and Jordan Harrison and sophomore Ian Irwin , which set a new school record in the preliminaries Friday, raced to an 8th-place finish in the finals Saturday with a time of 40.95 seconds. The Mammoths quartet earns First All-America with that finish.

Finally, senior Stan Craig wrapped up his career with a 12th-place finish in the 5000-meter. He earned 2nd Team All-America with that performance.

As a team Amherst collected four points and finished in a tie for 46th place.
