HADLEY, Mass. -- Amherst College first-year wide receiver-turned-defensive back
Christian Moore (Renton, WA) has been chosen as the New England Small College Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for play ending Sunday, Nov. 12.
Moore had three tackles, two interceptions, one fumble recovery, one pass breakup, and 123 return yards, plus a touchdown, in the Mammoths' 21-14 win over Williams Saturday. Moore's first interception came at the end of the first quarter at his own 4-yard line. The rookie returned it 76 yards and Amherst scored on the next play. On the Ephs' next possession, Moore recovered a fumble and returned it 47 yards for a touchdown, giving Amherst a 14-0 lead. The newcomer's second interception came in his own end zone with under two minutes to go to seal the Amherst victory.
It was Moore's second appearance as a defensive back, his first coming one week prior in a game at Bowdoin.
