THE SERIES

Since 1882, Amherst and Wesleyan have met 123 times, with Amherst holding a 71-43-9 record in the series. Between 2003 and 2012, Amherst won ten straight meetings, but in the last five years, the Mammoths are just 3-2, including an OT victory in 2014.

LAST TIME OUT - AMHERST

Ollie Eberth '20 and Bo Berluti '19 connected on two TD passes and Biafra Okoronkwo '20 added 185 yards on the ground as the Amherst College football team posted a pair of touchdowns in each of the first two quarters to pull away from Colby College for a 35-9 victory Saturday afternoon at Pratt Field at Lehrman Stadium.

With the win, Amherst extends its win streak against the Mules to 23-games and improves to 5-0 on the season, while Colby remains winless in 2018 and falls to 0-5 overall.

Eberth finished 11 of 19 for 194 yards and three scores in all, and added 37 rushing yards, while James O'Regan '20 led the receiving corps with 101 yards on five catches, including a 31 yard TD strike late in the opening quarter.

Okoronkwo ran for a single-game career best 185 yards, including a 70 yard TD rush, on 15 carries, while Eric Jung '21 was next on the Mammoths with 54 yards on six attempts.

Amherst scored two touchdowns in each of the first two quarters to take a 28-3 lead into the half.

LAST TIME OUT - WESLEYAN

Wesleyan outscored Bates 23-0 in the third quarter en route to a 44-13 win on the road last weekend. Senior quarterback Mark Piccirillo totaled 270 yards of offense with four touchdowns and no interceptions as the Cardinals defeated Bates for the 13^th straight time. 

The Cardinals' defense forced four punts and a turnover on downs in the third quarter. 

Wesleyan outgained the Bobcats 429-157 while holding Bates to just 10 first downs. The Cardinals threw for 185 yards and rushed for a season-high 244. 

Dario Highsmith led all receivers with four catches for 80 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, Wesleyan was led by Brandon Morris, who finished with 10 tackles. 

LAST MEETING

On October 21, 2017, Amherst defeated Wesleyan 21-17 at Pratt Field at Lehrman Stadium. 

Battling back to take their first lead of the contest with 1:27 remaining on the clock in the fourth quarter, an electrifying 51 yard touchdown rush by senior Hasani Figueroa stood as the difference maker, as the Amherst College football team clinched the come-from-behind win over Little Three rival Wesleyan on Homecoming. 

With the victory, Amherst improved to 5-1 on the season, while Wesleyan fell to 4-2 on the year.

The Mammoths outgained Wesleyan, 339 to 197 and finished an impressive 4-for-10 on third down conversions. 

Eberth finished 10-for-16 for 161 yards and an interception, while Reece Foy '18 completed three of five passes for 18 yards. 

Leading the attack on the ground, Ollie Eberth racked up 56 yards and a TD on 13 attempts, while Figueroa and Jack Hickey '19 posted 44 and 37 yards, respectively, and each added a touchdown. 

With nine catches for a whopping 147 yards, Bo Berluti led all receivers, while Craig Carmilani '18 added two receptions for 23 yards. 

Andrew Yamin '19 had a stellar game on defense for Amherst, recording 12 tackles, including eight solo and 5.5 tackles for loss, in addition to 5.5 sacks. Andrew Sommer '19 notched seven tackles on the day and 1.5 sacks, while Greg Franklin '20 chipped in six tackles and 1.5 sacks. 

Mark Piccirillo finished 12-for-25, tallying 129 yards through the air while leading the Wesleyan rushing game with 26 attempts for 25 total yards.

Sean Penney added 17 yards on the ground for the Cardinals, while Mike Breuler led Wesleyan's receiving corps with three catches for 57 yards. Evan Hull chipped four receptions for 32 yards.

Brandon Morris led the Cardinal defense with 10 tackles and a fumble recovery, while Pat Leone and Nate Taylor highlighted special teams play with a blocked field goal each.
