No. 6 Amherst Powers Past No. 31 Brandeis, 8-1

WALTHAM, Mass. – The sixth-ranked Amherst College women's tennis team earned an 8-1 victory over No. 31 Brandeis University Saturday afternoon during day two action of the Nor'Easter Bowl in Waltham, Mass.

With the win, Amherst improves to 6-4 on the season, while Brandeis moves to 3-6 overall.

DOUBLES HIGHLIGHTS

  • Amherst swept all three doubles matches as Sue Ghosh '16 and Sarah Monteagudo '16 earned an 8-4 victory on court one.
  • Vickie Ip '18 and Kelsey Chen '19 added an 8-0 sweep of Charlotte Aaron and Sophia He on the second court, while Jackie Calla '17 and Maddy Sung '16 defeated Emily Eska and Maya Vasser, 8-5 on the third court.

SINGLES HIGHLIGHTS

  • In singles action, Ghosh and Ip posted wins on the first and second courts by scores of 6-4, 7-5 and 6-3, 6-2 respectively.
  • Monteagudo added an 8-2 win over He on court four, while Chen and Avery Wagman '18 posted 8-3 victories on the fifth and sixth courts.
  • Brandeis picked up its lone win of the contest from the third position.
