REDLANDS, CA. — The #14 Amherst College women's tennis team closed out its California spring break trip on a high note Friday, defeating #29 University of Redlands 5–2 at the Verdieck Tennis Courts to move to 4–3 on the season. After back-to-back losses to #7 Pomona-Pitzer and #1 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, the Mammoths found their footing with a complete team performance highlighted by a clean doubles sweep and gritty comebacks across the bottom of the singles lineup.

HIGHLIGHTS

• Sameera Talwar was first off the court and set the tone at #6 singles, racing to a dominant 6–1, 6–0 win over Eve Laurent to give Amherst a 2–0 lead, maintaining the momentum and putting the pressure on Redlands. Maddie Swire followed quickly at #5 with a straight-sets victory to push the advantage to 3–0, keeping the momentum firmly in Amherst's favor.
• With the match still needing one more win and three courts locked in deciding third sets, Greta Stechschulte delivered the clincher at #4, rallying from a 7–6 first-set loss and trailing 4–2 in the second before coming back to win the second 7-5 and close the match 6–1 in the decider. Cody Huang added further drama at #3 in the longest match of the evening, recovering from a first-set loss and trailing 3-5 in the second to win a tight three-setter 3–6, 7–5, 6–3.
