AMHERST, MA. – Amherst College women's tennis will claim the New England Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament (NEWITT) A draw title, after both of its A draw teams won two matches on Saturday to set up an all-Amherst final. Tina She and Lily Dounchis will face senior Greta Stechschulte and first-year Ruzi Iscen on Sunday.

Both teams beat Middlebury and MIT opponents by 2-1 scores, and each won its doubles match in all four rounds. In the B draw, sophomores Maya Muhunthan and Sameera Talwar won both of their singles matches against Trinity in the quarterfinals, but did not advance after defaulting the doubles.

HIGHLIGHTS

• All-Amherst final. Stechschulte/Iscen and She/Dounchis each won their quarterfinal and semifinal matches on Saturday, so the A draw championship will be decided between teammates.
• Doubles delivers. Amherst won all four of its A draw doubles matches on Saturday. That included a 7-6 (4) win by Stechschulte and Iscen over Middlebury's Diya Pachumuthu and Caitlin Chan that clinched the quarterfinal.
• She stays perfect in singles. She won both of her singles matches in straight sets, beating MIT's Chloe Zeng, 6-4, 6-2, and Katie Driscoll, 6-3, 6-0.
• Iscen comes through twice. The first-year won both of her singles matches, beating Middlebury's Caitlin Chan, 7-6, 6-4, and MIT's Claire Zhou, 6-2, 6-4.
• Muhunthan and Talwar win in singles. Against Trinity, Muhunthan beat Naisha Rathi, 6-1, 6-0, and Talwar beat Emilia Romano, 6-4, 7-6.
