NATICK, Mass. - The No. 6 Amherst College women's tennis team posted a 9-0 sweep of No. 28 Babson College at the Natick Racquet Club in Natick, Mass. to kick off action at the Nor'Easter Bowl Friday evening.
With the win, Amherst improves to 5-4 overall and will take on Brandeis University at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2.
DOUBLES HIGHLIGHTS
- Amherst won all three doubles matches, never allowing Babson to claim more than one point in any match.
- The senior pair of Sue Ghosh and Sarah Monteagudo downed Chloe Brandt and Eleni Gianelos, 8-1 from the number one court, while Vickie Ip '18 and Kelsey Chen '19 picked up an 8-1 victory from the second position over Tori Paolino and Kylie Kam.
- On court three, Rebecca L. Pol '16 and Avery Wagman '18 earned an 8-0 sweep of Alexandra Blizard and Claire Foster.
SINGLES HIGHLIGHTS
- In singles action, Ghosh and Ip earned 7-6 (7-4), 6-1, and 6-0, 6-2 wins from the first and second courts respectively, while Jackie Calla '17 defeated Brandt, 6-0, 6-0 on court three.
- Monteagudo and Chen notched 6-1, 6-0, and 6-1, 6-1 victories on the fourth and fifth courts, while Wagman closed out the contest with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Blizard from the sixth slot.
