No. 4 Amherst Falls to Pomona-Pitzer, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The No. 4 Amherst College women's tennis team suffered a 6-3 loss to Pomona-Pitzer on Monday, and a 6-3 setback to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) on Wednesday during Spring Break trip action in Claremont, Calif.  

With the two losses, Amherst moves to 1-3 on the season.

POMONA-PITZER HIGHLIGHTS

  • Against Pomona-Pitzer, Amherst received wins from Sue Ghosh '16 in the No. 1 singles slot, 6-7, 6-2, 10-4.
  • Kelsey Chen '19 added a win for the Purple & White from the fifth court, 6-4, 7-6.
  • In doubles play, Chen teamed with Vickie Ip '18 and notched an 8-1 victory.

CMS HIGHLIGHTS

  • Jackie Calla '17 earned Amherst's lone singles victory from the number three position, notching a 6-1, 6-4 win.
  • In doubles, Chen and Ip won their match, 9-7 on the second court, while Avery Wagman '18 and Rebecca L. Pol '16 won their contest, 8-6 from the third court.
