Jeffs Roar Past No. 32 Chapman University, 8-1

ORANGE, Calif. – The No. 4 Amherst College women's tennis team swept all six singles positions en route to an 8-1 triumph over No. 32 Chapman University at the Chapman Tennis Courts.

With the win, Amherst has now won three straight to improve to 3-1 overall, while Chapman moves to 3-5 on the season.

Amherst took a 2-1 lead following the doubles portion of Thursday's contest as Vickie Ip '18 and Sue Ghosh '16 defeated Andrea Hammer and Rachel Fox, 8-3 on the No. 1 court. Maddy Sung '16 and Jacqueline Calla '17 followed with an 8-1 victory over Lauren Ross and Mady Strahl on the No. 3 court, with the Panthers picking up their lone win of the match from the No. 2 doubles position.

In singles action, Ip defeated Sophia Duong, 6-3, 6-0 on court No. 1, while Ghosh battled Fox to a three-set win (4-6, 6-3, 10-6) on the No. 2 court. In the third position, Simone Aisiks '17 bested Hammer, 6-2, 6-4, Sarah Monteagudo '16 downed Madeline Saunders, 6-2, 6-2 on the No. 4 court, and Megan Adamo '17 posted a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Ross on the No. 5 court. Claire Carpenter '17 added a win over Sarah McDonald by scores of 6-2, 6-2 on the No. 6 court to complete the Jeffs' triumph.

Amherst is back in action on Friday, March 20 when it takes on No. 30 Vassar College at 10 a.m. in Irvine, Calif.
