TEAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS

• Amherst finished the season at 30-2, setting a school record for wins in a season (30)
• Defeated defending national champions, Virginia-Wesleyan College, 80-67, to win program's first NCAA National Championship
• Advanced to the National Championship for the first time after a 67-60 win over The College of Wooster in the NCAA National Semifinal game
• Earned an automatic bid to their tenth overall and eighth straight NCAA Tournament, drawing a first-round bye and downing visiting Stevens Institute of Technology, 97-74, and Rhode Island College, 81-69, to advance to the National Semifinal round
• As the number one seed, advanced to their seventh consecutive NESCAC championship game, where they fell to third seeded Williams College, 70-69
• Secured the NESCAC men's basketball regular-season title
• Claimed their third consecutive Little Three Championship by sweeping both Wesleyan University and Williams College during the regular season
• Set program history's longest winning streak, posting 23 consecutive wins
• Senior class graduates as the programs most winningest class, with 111 career wins
• Had highest winning percentage in program history, 93.8%
• Posted wins over Springfield College and Western New England College in the Pioneer Valley Classic (PVC). Amherst is 11-0 all-time in PVC play
• Downed Thomas College and New York City College of Technology to win the Fifth-Annual Ken Wright '52 Memorial Invitational Tournament (hosted by Amherst)
• Named 2006 Intercollegiate Program of Excellence by the New England Basketball Hall of Fame (first program to receive this honor)
• Finished first in the nation in scoring margin (20.6%) and winning percentage (93.8%), third in block shots per game (5.7), fifth in field-goal percentage defense (37.7%), fifth in field goal percentage (51.1%), fifth in assists per game (19.3), seventh in three-point field-goal percentage (40.8%), 14th in scoring defense (60.8), 27th in scoring offense (81.4 ppg) and 27th in three-point field goals per game (8.9)
• Led the NESCAC in scoring defense (60.8 ppg), scoring margin (20.6), field goal percentage (51.1%), field-goal percentage defense (38.7%), three-point field-goal percentage (40.8%), assists (19.3 apg), blocked shots (5.7 pg), steals (8.56 pg), assist/turnover ratio (1.49), and turnover margin (+ 3.25). Finished second in scoring offense (81.47 ppg), three-point field goal percentage defense (30.7%) and three-point field goals made (8.94 pg)

Head Coach Dave Hixon '75

• Named National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Coach of the Year, after already being named NABC Regional Coach of the year
• D3hoops.com National Coach of the year and Northeast Region Coach of the Year
• All-time winningest coach in program history with a career record of 550-221 (71%)

Senior Co-Captain Forward Dan Wheeler (Bloomington, MN)

• First-Team All-NESCAC
• NABC First-Team All-Region
• D3hoops.com Second-Team All-Northeast Region
• Named Finalist for prestigious Josten's Trophy, given to the most outstanding Division III basketball player who demonstrates athletic ability, academic prowess, and community involvement
• Scored 1,000th career point on February 23 against Wesleyan University and ended his career with 1,132 points, making him the 15th leading scorer in program history
• Part of the winningest class in Amherst history, with 111 victories over four seasons
• Finished 11th in the NESCAC in 3-pt made (60) and 12th in scoring (443)
• NESCAC All-Academic.

Junior Forward Fletcher Walters (Ann Arbor, MI)

• Named NESCAC Player of the Week for the period ending December 11

Junior Guard Adolphe Coulibaly (Abidjan, Ivory Coast)

Junior Forward Brandon Jones (Hopatcong, NJ)

Sophomore Guard/Forward Brian Baskauskas (Palo Alto, CA)

• Finished with 14th highest season field-goal percentage in program history (57.5%)
