No. 18 Jeffs Open Season with 13-9 Win Over Keene State

ORLANDO, FL - The 18th-ranked Amherst College men's lacrosse team opened its season with a 13-9 victory over non-conference foe Keene State College in Orlando, Florida on Monday. Sophomore attacker Derek Cherney (Chappaqua, NY) racked up four goals and three assists, while fellow sophomore Chris Hofmann (New Canaan, CT) tallied a collegiate-best five goals and one assist. Senior tri-captain goalie Cushing Donelan (Noroton, CT) anchored the Amherst defense with 15 saves. 

Amherst junior Kevin Boova (Summit, NJ) tacked on a pair of goals and an assist, while senior Andrew Syfu (Hobart, IN) tallied a goal and an assist and classmate Alex Casertano (Millbrook, NY) notched one score. Senior tri-captain Colby Griffith (Lexington, MA) and fellow senior Bryan Hiller (Wantagh, NY) each dealt one assist. 

Amherst returns to action Wednesday at 3 p.m. against Clarkson University in Orlando, Florida.
