Men's Lacrosse Bombs Keene State, 15-4

March 19, 2003

PORT RICHEY, FL - Behind four goals from senior co-captain Chris Condlin (Baltimore, MD) and three goals and two assists from sophomore sharpshooter Alex Casertano (Millbrook, NY), the Amherst College men's lacrosse team improved to 2-1 with Tuesday night's lopsided 15-4 win over Keene State College in Port Richey, Florida. Sophomore goalie Cushing Donelan (Noroton, CT) added 12 saves in the win.

Ten different Amherst players cracked the scoring column. First-year Kevin Boova (Summit, NJ) and sophomores Andrew Syfu (Hobart, IN) and Colby Griffith (Lexington, MA) each tallied a goal and an assist. Rookies Sean Murray (Madison, NJ) and Caleb Deats (Austin, TX), sophomore Joaquin Walker (Denver, CO) and juniors Craig McBeth (Wyckoff, NJ) and Mike Allison (W. Nyack, NY) added a goal apiece.

With the win, Amherst rebounds from Monday's narrow 6-4 loss to Clarkson University - a game that started on Sunday but was suspended at halftime due to an electrical storm.

The Jeffs, ranked third in Tuesday's New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) poll, conclude their Florida trip Thursday at noon against NESCAC rival Trinity College. Amherst is 1-0 in conference play thanks to a season-opening 18-3 win over Bates College on the artificial turf at Springfield.
