Women's Tennis Back on Track with 9-0 Win at Chapman

March 21, 2002 

ORANGE, CA – The fourth-ranked Amherst College women's tennis team notched its first win of the spring on Thursday, blanking host Chapman University, 9-0. The Jeffs swept every set in six singles and three doubles victories, while junior Susanna Burke (St. Louis, MO), sophomore Wallis Molchen (Wilmington, DE) and first-year Tristan Hedrick (Walnut Creek, CA) posted a trio of convincing 6-0, 6-0 shutout singles wins. 

Amherst halted a two-match losing skid win the win. The Jeffs opened their spring slate with a narrow 5-4 loss at sixth-ranked Pomona-Pitzer on Sunday, and gave Division I power Cal State Fullerton all it could handle on Monday, before falling, 4-3. 

Amherst (5-3) concludes its California trip Saturday at 10 a.m. at eighth-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
