FORT MYERS, Fla. - Amherst College Men's Basketball alumnus
Andrew Olson '08 was announced to be inducted into the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame, it was announced in April. Olson will be inducted into their Hall of Fame on Friday, November 6, at the Polk Theatre in Lakeland, Fla.
This year's class marks the tenth class of the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame, which was started in 2016. Olson is one of twelve people to be inducted into the hall of fame this year, and is one of ten former collegiate athletes.
Olson joins his coach, the legendary David Hixon '75, as the second Mammoth to be inducted into the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame. Hixon was a part of the Class of 2024, after retiring from coaching Amherst Men's Basketball in 2020.
Olson racked up the accolades in his four years with in Amherst, earning NABC Division III Player of the Year in 2007 and 2008, a two-time selection to the NABC All-American First Team, two nods to the D3Hoops.com All-American First Team, NESCAC Player of the Year in back-to-back seasons, and a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award in 2007 and 2008.
He was second in points in the 2006-07 season, and helped to lead the Mammoths to their first National Championship. Olson finished his career 15th in the 1,000 point club (1,238) and first in career assists (758). He also helped lead Amherst back to the National Championship game in 2008, where they fell short.
