MANCHESTER, CT. — The #16 Amherst College women's tennis team defeated No. 17 Swarthmore 4–1 in the NCAA round of 32 on Saturday afternoon at the Magic Lincer Tennis Club, moving on to the Sweet Sixteen after another strong postseason showing. The match was moved indoors due to rain. Amherst improved to 13–7, and sophomore Cody Huang clinched the match at No. 3 singles to highlight a win that featured big performances across the top of the lineup.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Amherst took the doubles point by winning at Nos. 1 and 2, while No. 3 was left unfinished after the point had already been secured. Cody Huang and Lily Dounchis won 6–2 at No. 1, and Tina She and Karolina Dobiecka followed with a 6–1 win at No. 2 to give the Mammoths the early edge.
  • The top of Amherst's singles lineup then carried the match. Tina She was first off with a 6–2, 6–0 win at No. 1, Sophie Diop followed with a 6–4, 6–3 victory at No. 2, and Cody Huang delivered the clincher at No. 3 with a three-set comeback, 5–7, 6–2, 6–3. That gave Amherst the fourth point and kept the Mammoths in control despite Swarthmore hanging around in the lower half of the lineup.
  • Amherst also had strong unfinished results in the remaining courts. Greta Stechschulte was tied at one set apiece at No. 4 when play stopped, and Rachel Roth had split the first two sets at No. 5.
