Saahi Jetti (Des Moines, Iowa.) was named the NESCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the NESCAC Tournament Quarterfinal weekend, the conference announced earlier today.
Jetti had one of his best performances of the season on Saturday, against Colby. In his postseason debut, with his team facing elimination after a series-opening loss on Friday, Jetti threw a complete game no-hitter on the way to a 3-0 Amherst win. He improved to 8-1 on the season, striking out 8 and walking only 3 in the first nine-inning complete game no-hitter by an Amherst pitcher since 2000. 8-1. Jetti currently leads the NESCAC in wins (8), ERA (2.12), strikeouts (65), complete games (5), and innings pitched (63.2). Amherst would go on to win Game 3 and the series by a score of 3-2 on a walk off single in the bottom of the ninth.
The Mammoths will return to action this Friday, May 9 at NESCAC Championship weekend. The final four teams will face off in a double-elimination tournament, with all games played at Trinity College. Amherst will open the weekend against the hosts, with first pitch against the Bantams at 5 p.m.
