Fantastic Final Round Lands Mammoths 7th-Place Finish at NCAA Championships

PALM DESERT, CA – The Amherst College women's golf team competed in the fourth and final day of the 2026 NCAA DIII Women's Golf National Championship on Friday.

The Mammoths finished the tournament tied for 7th place with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College, and finished with a four day total of +36 over par (300, 298, 300, 290. For their final round, the Mammoths finished strong firing +2 over par as a team. A 7th place finish is the second best finish in the Amherst Women's Golf program's history (in the 2002 National Championship tournament the Mammoths finished in 3rd place). 

For the second year in a row, Emory College defended their title as national champions while Carnegie Mellon University took second place. Emory finished with a four day total of +2 over par, and Carnegie Mellon University finished with a four day total of +9 over par. 

In the fourth and final round, the Mammoths began play in the morning and, once again, started on hole 10 of the Firecliff course at the Desert Willow Golf Resort. On the individual leaderboard, freshman Renna Chang fired a -4 under par for 68. Chang had a total of 7 birdies, with five birdies solely on her back 9. Chang finished with a four day total of 302 (76, 78, 80, 68).

Freshman Emma Lindemoen also had an impressive round of -1 under par for 71. Lindemoen finished T-9th with a four day total of 289 (73, 72, 73, 71). Lindemoen has the second best finish at a National Championship tournament in program history (Jessica Huang finished in T-4th in 2023). 

Sophomore Mekhala Costello finished her last round at +3 over par for 75. Costello finished in T-19th place with a four day total of 294 (72, 72, 75, 75). Sophomore Joelle Kim finished her round with a +4 over par for 76, and a four day total of 310 (81, 76, 77, 76). Sophomore Jia An shot +6 over par, or 78, and finished with a four day total of 315 (79, 83, 75, 78).
