PALM DESERT, CA – The Amherst College women's golf team competed in Day 2 of the 2026 NCAA DIII Women's Golf National Championship. The Mammoths are competing at the Desert Willow Golf Resort and started on hole 10 of the Firecliff course on Wednesday.
The Mammoths began play in the morning and battled heat waves throughout the day. After their second round the Mammoths finished with a total of 298, or +10 over par. After two days the Mammoths are +22 over par, and are tied for 8th place with Pomona-Pitzer College. Leading the tournament is Emory College at +6 over par for both days, while Carnegie Mellon University fell to second and are at +10 over par for two days.
On the individual leaderboard, sophomore
Mekhala Costello continues to lead the Mammoths shooting another 72, or even par. Along with Costello, freshman
Emma Lindemoen fired 72. Both Costello and Lindemoen finished strong with a birdie on hole 18, a par 5. Sophomore
Joelle Kim followed close behind shooting at 76. On hole 6, a par 4, Kim notably hit her second shot within one foot of the pin, and finished out with an easy birdie. Freshman
Renna Chang followed close behind shooting a 78. Chang also finished strong with a one foot birdie putt on hole 18. Sophomore
Jia An finished with an 83.
The Mammoths, #5 in the nation, made the cut and will compete in the last two days of the NCAA DIII Women's Golf National Championship. Tomorrow the Mammoths will play on Desert Willow Golf Resort's Firecliff course and will start on hole 10. The Mammoths are still looking to climb the leaderboard and finish strong.
