AMHERST, Mass. -- The Amherst College men's golf team opened the Dr. Tim Brown Invitation at the Ballston Spa Country Club hosted by Skidmore College. The Mammoths began play with a 1:00 PM shotgun start. After the first day, the Mammoths sit in 1st place at +10 over par. Right behind the Mammoths is New York University in 2nd place at +11 over par, and Trinity College in 3rd place at +12 over par. 

On the individual leaderboard, sophomore Andre Zhang leads the Mammoths firing a 72, sitting in T-2 in the field. Zhang had an impressive three birdies and eagle on hole three. Zhang sits one shot behind the leader from Hamilton College who shot one under.

Following Zhang, sophomore Jan Ebbinge shot 73, and junior Rhys Burgess shot 76 with an eagle on hole three as well. Senior Mark Vitels shot 77, and freshman Thomas Zhang shot 79. 

The Mammoths, #46 in the nation, are back in action tomorrow with an afternoon start at Ballston Spa Country Club for round two of the Dr. Tim Brown Invitational.
