JEKYLL ISLAND, GA -- The Amherst College men's golf team kicked off its spring season this Friday at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational at Pine Lakes. The Mammoths began play in the afternoon and finished the day at 7 over par, sitting at T-18th place in the field.
On the individual leaderboard, second-year Andre Zhang leads the Mammoths at 71, sitting at 37th in the overall field. Following, senior Paari Kaviyarasu and second-year Jan Ebbinge shot 74, both sitting at 68th in the field. First-year Thomas Zhang shot a 76, and senior Mark Vitels shot a 79. Notably, Zhang eagled hole 18 and Kaviyarasu eagled hole 15.
The Mammoths, #41 in the nation, are back in action tomorrow in the morning for the second round of the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational at Great Dunes.
