#14 Mammoths Open Season With 7-0 Win At Skidmore

AMHERST, MA - The 14th-ranked Amherst College women's tennis team kicked off its 2026 spring home slate in commanding fashion, sweeping the Skidmore College Thoroughbreds 7-0 at home. The Mammoths were in control from start to finish, dropping just one total game in doubles and backing it up with six singles victories to complete the shutout. The Mammoths are building on a standout 2024–25 campaign in which they went 13–8 overall and reached the NCAA Division III Round of 16, finishing the year inside the national top 15. 

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Amherst raced out to a 1-0 lead after a flawless doubles session, losing only one game across all three courts. At the #2 and #3 spots, the Mammoths were perfect, posting twin 6-0 victories to secure the doubles point in dominant style.

  • At #2 singles, Tina She delivered the standout performance of the day, grinding through a three-set battle and pulling away in the deciding super tiebreak to earn a hard-fought win for the Mammoths.

UP NEXT:  With the win, Amherst moves to 1-0 on the season and builds early momentum to have a successful season. The Mammoths will now turn their attention to a home showdown with Bowdoin College on Saturday, March 7 at 1:00 PM ET, as they look to continue their strong start against a NESCAC rival.
