#14 Mammoth Men Fall To Drexel, 8-1

PHILADELPHIA, PA. — The #14 Amherst College men's squash team closed out its regular season on Friday night with a tough 8–1 loss to #8 Drexel on the Dragons' home courts. The Mammoths were outgunned through much of the lineup but fought hard in several spots, winning on one of the courts. With an 11–6 overall record for the season, the Mammoths turn their attention to the upcoming CSA Divisional Team Championships in Philadelphia from February 27 to March 1. 

 

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

  • Amherst's lone win came at #9 singles, senior captain William Okurowski outlasted Sean Kiernan in a marathon five-setter, 3–2 (8–11, 14–12, 11–6, 8–11, 14–12) in 1 hour and 9 minutes. After dropping the first game, Okurowski battled an important set his way by winning 14-12 in the second to keep him in the match.

UP NEXT

With wrapping up the regular season on Saturday, and their record at 11–6, the Mammoths will remain focused on Philadelphia, where they are expected to compete in the second-division bracket at the CSA Divisional Team Championships from February 27 to March 1. They'll look to regroup from Saturday's result and make a strong final push against similarly ranked national opponents
