MIDDLETOWN, CT. – The Amherst Women's Swim and Dive team is placed fourth in the NESCAC after Day 2 of the conference championship meet. The Mammoths have earned 487 points through Event 10 and are trailing Tufts, Williams, and Colby College, respectively.
The Mammoths will look to continue their momentum on Day 3 of the NESCAC tournament, tomorrow, Friday, February 14th. Prelims will begin at 10:00 am. Diving trials will take place at 1:30 pm, and Day 3 will conclude with a senior ceremony and finals at 5:45.

The 200-yard Freestyle A Relay, comprised of Sydney Thompson, Paige Arnold, Diane Koo, and Lucy Smith, placed fourth, swimming a time of 1:33.74. The B-Relay, made up of Penny Lazar, Ava Insteness, Maeve Kelley, and Alex Zorn, placed 14th, swimming a time of 1:36.50.

Senior Joline Fong placed 11th in the 50-yard breaststroke, swimming in the consolation final. Fong swam a 30.02 in the prelims and a 29.96 in finals. Kaya Tray plays 20th overall, swimming a 30.87 in prelims and a 31.03 in the finals.

In the 50-yard butterfly, Lucy Smith placed second overall. She swam a 25.42 in prelims and a 24.99 in the finals.

First-year Penny Lazar swam a finals time of 5:02.94 in the 500-yard freestyle, placing 7th overall. Emory Tudor placed 9th, with a time of 5:03.51.

Junior Paige Arnold placed 2nd overall in the 200-yard IM, swimming an NCAA B-cut qualifying time of 2:03.08.

Thompson placed second in the 50-yard freestyle, touching in 23.29. Her time qualified her for the NCAA B-cut. Smith also swam a B-cut qualifying time, 23.53, and finished 6th.

Both Brooke Ronan and Donna Zhang qualified for the NCAA B meet, with Ronan placing first and Zhang taking second in the 1-meter diving. Ronan earned 432.50 points in the prelims, with Zhang earning 425.95. In finals, Ronan scored 446.00, and Zhang scored 437.25.

The 400-yard Medley A Relay, made up of Arnold, Fong, Kelley, and Thompson, placed fourth overall, swimming a finals time of 3:47.37. This was a B-cut qualifying time.
