BRUNSWICK, ME – Tina She won the singles championship at the ITA New England Regional Championships, hosted by Bowdoin College. The No. 2 seed won six matches over the weekend, capping her run with a 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4) comeback win over Mariia Kornilova (Wesleyan) in the final. The title earns her a spot at the ITA Cup in Rome, GA. This is the second tournament win in a row for TIna She. Two weeks ago she won the singles and doubles titles at the annual MIT Invitational. 

In the B singles draw, Maya Muhunthan reached the semifinals, and Sam Talwar and Gaby Shiao each advanced to the quarterfinals.

HIGHLIGHTS

• She rallies for the title. After dropping the first set of the final, She won the second 6-3 and took the third in a tiebreak, 7-6 (4).
• Two tiebreak sets in the quarterfinals. She beat No. 7 seed Melanie Woodbury of Tufts, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (3).
• Dominant semifinal. She dropped just three games in a 6-1, 6-2 win over No. 9-16 seed Sophia Yang of MIT.
• Tight opener on Saturday. In the round of 16, She held off No. 9-16 seed Kayla Mitchell of Wesleyan, 6-3, 4-6, [10-7].
• Muhunthan's run to the semis. Muhunthan won three matches on Saturday, including an 8-7 (5) win over Bates' Francesca Rodriguez and an 8-4 win over No. 9-16 seed Emma Jani of Colby. She fell to Williams' Ahn Lin in a match tiebreak in Sunday's semifinals.
• Talwar and Shiao reach the quarters. Each won two matches on Saturday, with Talwar dropping just two games across them.

Tina She will represent Amherst at the ITA Cup, held October 15th - October 18th at Rome Tennis Center in Rome, GA. The event brings together the champions and finalists from ITA regional championships across the country, giving She the chance to compete for a national singles title.
