CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — The Amherst College men's swimming and diving team wrapped up the regular season on Saturday afternoon, falling to MIT in a fast-paced dual meet at the Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center.

Meet Highlights

The Engineers jumped out to an early advantage in the opening relays, but the Mammoths responded with several strong individual efforts as the meet unfolded. First-year Owen Vale continued his standout rookie campaign, picking up a win in the 200-yard individual medley and adding a second-place finish in the 100-yard individual medley.

Amherst found success in the breaststroke events, led by junior Fyn Nadel, who captured first place in the 100-yard breaststroke. Fellow Mammoths Eric Albers and Henry Liu added depth in the event, placing among the top finishers.

In the sprint freestyle races, JP Giglio paced Amherst with a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle, while senior Ethan Van De Water turned in a strong swim in the 50 free. The Mammoths also showed their speed on the back end of the meet, closing the afternoon with a solid performance in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
The final score was MIT 187.5, Amherst 103.5.

With the regular season complete, Amherst now turns its focus to postseason competition, looking to build on the momentum gained throughout the winter. The NESCAC championship is scheduled for Thursday, February 19th through 22nd.
