Strong Performances on Final Day Allow Mammoths to Finish Third at NESCAC Championships

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. — The Amherst College men's swimming and diving team closed competition at the NESCAC Championships on Sunday with multiple scoring swims and a third-place finish in the final team standings with 1217 points.  

MEET HIGHLIGHTS 

Amherst also placed multiple swimmers in the 200-yard butterfly. Fyn Nadel earned a third-place finish in 1:48.16, and Owen Vale followed in fourth in 1:48.35. Henry LeCates placed 10th in 1:49.89, and Teddy Sun finished 16th in 1:53.73.  

Amherst recorded two scoring finishes in the 100-yard freestyle. Jack Goepfrich placed sixth in the championship final in 44.98, and Ethan Van De Water placed 14th overall in 45.79.  

The Mammoths scored heavily in the 200-yard breaststroke. Eric Albers led Amherst with a fourth-place finish in 1:59.08, followed by Henry Liu in sixth in 2:00.33. Michael Jang placed 13th in 2:03.27, Jeffrey Ge finished 17th in 2:03.91, and Joel Chen placed 19th in 2:04.14.  

The Mammoths closed the meet in the 400-yard freestyle relay, where the A relay of Ethan Van De Water, Cameron Aryanpour, Jp Giglio, and Jack Goepfrich placed fourth in 2:59.69, and the B relay consisting of Tom Conaty, Emmanuel Odim, Roan Haney, and Henry LeCates placed 15th in 3:04.46.  

In the 200-yard backstroke, Jonah Luetke placed 15th overall with a time of 1:52.33, while first-year Jp Giglio finished 19th in 1:53.71.
