AMHERST, MA. – First-year
Owen Vale (Avon, Conn.) has been named the NESCAC Men's Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week, as announced by the conference on Tuesday.
The first-year had the best meet weekend of his young career, posting two record-setting swims and multiple lifetime bests. In their dual meet versus Springfield College, Vale set the NESAC and Pratt Pool Records in the 100 IM, posting a time of 50.61. He also broke the Pratt Pool Record in the 200 IM, swimming a personal best 1:50.18. On Saturday, Jan. 24 at the Menck Sprints, Vale put down another personal best in the 100 backstroke with a 52.15, as well as notching season-best times in the 100 breaststroke (58.53) and 200 freestyle (1:43.68).
Vale and the Mammoths will return to the action this weekend, traveling to Cambridge to take on MIT in dual-meet action on Sat, Jan. 31.
